Update History
Version 1.1.4 (Jul 21,1999) FILES ARE USABLE AS-IS.
- After another long hiatus, I have finally completed the core of CRPGnet.
The game is ready for Free Release and Public Use. Both the Server and
Client files are freely available. Enjoy!
Version 0.1.4 (Dec 02,1998) FILES ARE USABLE AS-IS.
- After a long hiatus from working on CRPGnet, I've come back to fix a few bugs
as well as extend the expiration date on the server to June 30,1999.
- Fixed the Log On Timeout (which didn't work) when connecting to servers that
are not actually online. After about a minute with no response from the
server, the Client will disconnect.
- When logging onto a server and wanting to disconnect before you are officially
greeted (before all the updates are made), you can press Command-Period to
abort the connection.
Version 0.1.4 (Jul 07,1998) FILES ARE USABLE AS-IS.
- This version is the same as the last, except that in regards to the CRPGnet
Server Application, the web features have been disabled and the expiration
date of the server is December 31,1998.
In the process of updating my networking code, I managed to totally trash the
Web Server library that I had written for CRPGnet. As a result, I will be
releasing this version with an extended life until I complete all of the
following features for the final:
o Re-Write the Web Server Library for CRPGnet.
o Improve the GUI for all the Prefs and Setup windows.
o Finish implementing the Serial Number registration procedures to ensure
player uniqueness and authenticity.
Note: The Server Application will now expire on December 31,1998.
Version 0.1.4 (Jun 07,1998) FILES ARE USABLE AS-IS.
- Implemented a Port Refresh procedure which should cause the server to stay online
at optimal performance. There should be no degradation of speed as time passes.
- Repaired and added user logon and logoff notices, as well as fixed the problem
where players dropping off are not detected by others.
Version 0.1.4 (May 10,1998) DELETE ALL DATA FILES FROM PREVIOUS VERSION.
- Repaired the invisibility problems. Invisible people now re-appear when the spell
expires.
- If you make a detrimental action against a character while invisible (such as
attacking or casting a spell), you will become visible as the Invisibility Spell
will expire.
- Added in Custom Portrait reads. You will need to use a Resource Editor, such as
ResEdit) to add in your personalized Portrait Icons into the PlugIn file.
Follow the instructions above on how to add, name and setup your Personal
Portrait Icon.
- Characters are only allowed one game action (attack, cast spell, use a skill)
every 3 seconds. This makes up for the people with high speed connections
and/or macros to kill characters rather quickly.
- Added in new stock character portrait icons.
- Spruced up the game interface a little bit.
- Added a feature to the Web Page generator that shows if a Game Master is
available or not.
- This should be the last Beta Test version before CRPGnet goes to full Shareware.
The Unregistered version will allow a maximum of 2 characters only, while the
full version will have no limits as to total number of characters.
Registration fees will be $5.00 (US) for the Client, and $10.00 (US) for the
Server (these prices are not final).
Version 0.1.3 (Apr 12,1998) FILES ARE USABLE AS-IS.
- Added NPC interaction features to the Server. NPC's can now attack others, cast
spells, use skills, give (and take) money and give (and take) items.
All Server commands that Edit PC stats can be used on NPC's (such as !HP=##).
Version 0.1.3 (Apr 06,1998) FILES ARE USABLE AS-IS.
- Repaired the problem of people being able to steal more money than a character
actually has (thus, bringing him/her into negative cash).
- Put in a stop to combat. When a character is brought to 0 hit points, no one can
attack that character.
- Repaired the Room Counter bugs that show more people on than there actually are.
Version 0.1.3 (Mar 23,1998) FILES ARE USABLE AS-IS.
- Repaired the "Character Modified by Outside Source" problem that didn't allow new
characters to log on

Version 0.1.3 (Mar 19,1998) FILES ARE USABLE AS-IS.

(as long as the server has that information available and programmed in).
- Added the ability for the server to generate NPCs, allowing up to 10 NPCs to
be online at any given time.
- Gave the Server the ability to "Possess" any NPC. The server can control the
actions of any NPC and can speak as them as well.

Version 0.1.2 (Feb 25,1998) DELETE ALL DATA FILES FROM PREVIOUS VERSION.
- Added in Player/Character authentication, so people could not log in with the same
character.
- The Room List Box now keeps totals of people in each room, so you can see how many
people are in each room.
- Server now updates any Client that logs on with its own information
(ie Room Names, Spell Names, Item Names, Skill Names, etc)
- Character now heal Hit Points and Mana over a given amount of time.
- Character's earn money each day according to the levels of the first 5 skills
(the higher the skill level, the more a character makes).
